Botanical Drawing for Beginners in Graphite Pencil
This two day course provides an introduction to the skills and techniques of botanical drawing using graphite pencils. Suitable for beginners and those with some experience, the course starts with an overview of materials and how to use them, preliminary exercises and drawing simple subjects in line and tone, moving on to more complex subjects on day two. An introduction to botany and dissections, to composition, working from life and the use of photography.
Flowers and plants, fruit, vegetables, seed heads and grasses all provide inspiration.

Spring Flowers and Buds in Graphite
Enjoy drawing Spring flowers and buds in graphite pencil in this one day botanical drawing workshop. Wild flowers, grasses, tree leaf buds and witch hazel as well as flowers such as grape hyacinth and celandine all give ample opportunity to study different forms, shapes and textures. You will be encouraged to use a full range of pencils and will be shown various techniques from clear outlines to sharp hatching and smooth, rich blending. Basic drawing skills are needed for this course, where you will receive all the support you need to achieve a botanically accurate and visually pleasing pencil drawing.

Making Cards in Cut Paper Collage
In this one day workshop learn how to cut out and layer coloured craft papers to achieve striking three dimensional designs for cards. This is a fun, relaxed workshop for all skill levels. There will be plenty of guidance and demonstrations of various techniques: design; balancing colours and tones; choosing papers; refining shapes; cutting; assembling; and glueing. Open to non members.
